・Untold story from a member who’s been working at MORIWAKI since when the original Z400FX one-piece exhaust was developed.
------------------------
1978 was the year that the first 8hrs was held and MORIWAKI Z-1 and Crosby’s names were noticed in the world. Following year, the masterpiece, Z400FX came out. MORIWAKI members fell in love with the bike and were eager to make an exhaust system. The new exhaust system must have style and performance that meet the beauty and potential of the bike. Heated discussion was continued every day. Foreseeing the coming noise restriction, our target was to have maximum of 99dB with high quality sound. Our development team couldn’t use the chassis-dyno during the day because it was occupied by Z-1 racing engine, so we had to do it during the night. After those nights, we found the right dimension of the system. Then, it took another week to make first proto system which made the best looking of the bike. I was the first one to take the bike. I will never forget the feeling I had, the sound I heard. Calm, gentle sound changed to beautiful singing sound as it was revving up.
The memory of the MORIWAKI member is now about to become your future. The Z400FX One-piece exhaust system is again! Using same tools, fixtures, materials, welding method… and of course, “sand-stuffed manually bent pipes.”
MORIWAKI’s craftsmanship is poured into the exhaust systems which will get exclusive serial numbers. What do you ask more???
