Stewart Aitken-Cade, President, USGPRU
The USGPRU 125 Grand Prix National Championship®, Moriwaki MD250H, Moto3, and 250 Grand Prix National Championship™ will continue to run primarily during the weekends organized by the Championship Cup Series (CCS) & American Sportbike Racers Association (ASRA). In addition, some events will be run in conjunction with the UTSBA, OMRRA, and roadrace Southwest series.
USGPRU events provide maximum track time for developing young riders. Depending on the host organization, some weekends offer full day practice on Friday and Saturday where riders easily can click off 5 20min sessions each day. Following Sunday morning warm-up a dedicated 15 minute Final Qualifying session is held and the times are used to determine grid position in the main event.
Where possible, USGPRU events are a minimum length of 54km. Longer race length provides better opportunity to develop race craft and experience. Tire choice becomes more important, calculation of fuel load more critical and rider fitness becomes a deciding factor.
In 2008, the USGPRU started a new spec-motorcycle class based on the outstanding Moriwaki MD250H racebike powered by HONDA. With a stout purse available to the competitors, and a fantastic piece of race machinery to ride, the class showcased the skills of the 12- to 16-year-old racers. Plus it was just a lot of fun for the fans to watch.
Our goal is to provide a direct springboard for talented young (1218 year old) American and Canadian riders wanting to make the jump to pro racing. With the 125GP class extended in WGP to AT LEAST 2015 we see lightweight GP racing in North America going strong for several more years. As we bring in the new 4-stroke purpose-built race bikes from Moriwaki Engineering, this will enable the USGPRU to continue to be the premiere feeder class in North America.

We are happy to see our MD250 is racing in North American and other regions and countries in the world. Hope to see one of those MD250 riders become world-class GP riders in the future.
