INTERWETTEN MORIWAKI MOTO2 TEAM: GRAND PRIX OF QATAR 2010

In only a few days the waiting comes to an end. The MotoGP world championship starts a new season, already its 61st season. It will start for the third time in a row with the night race at the desert-track in Losail/Qatar.

The race track, which is located about 30 km outside of Doha city, was built in just one year and opened in 2004. The first MotoGP event took place in the same year on a Saturday. In 2007 permanent flood lights were added to the race track and the first ever night race in the history of the MotoGP world championship took place under flood lights in 2008.

Tom Lüthi finished the Grand Prix of Qatar last year with the sixth place and earned already at the first race of the season 2009 valuable championship points. Also this year the Swiss wants to ride at the top and seal the first race of the season with his first points in the new Moto2 class.

Tom Lüthi: I don’t know what is waiting for me in Qatar. We didn’t have the possibility to test the new Moto2 bike at a night test in the desert, therefore I can´t say how I will be able to handle the conditions there. I know that the Top 10 were very close in the last tests and I was only missing half a second to the Top. That´s not a bad start I would say. I really hope that we can stay with the Top in the race and finish it at least with a Top 5 result.

Terrell Thien, Teammanager: I am happy that it finally starts now and the waiting has an end. I think that after the last couple of tests we are well prepared for the season. Qatar suits Tom well and last year he was Sixth here. This year it should be possible to surpass this. I have a good feeling for this new season and I am excited to see what the new Moto2 class brings for us.
