here comes race report from Gresini Racing.

chack this out !!

GP of Portugal, Estoril - 29 April - 01 May 2011

PIRRO LOOKS FOR MORE AT ESTORIL AS TAKAHASHI RACES IN MEMORY OF HIS BROTHER KOKI
When the Moto2 engines fire up at Estoril this weekend it will be almost a month since they were switched off at Jerez. The postponement of the Grand Prix of Japan due to the tragic earthquake and tsunami have meant a lengthy break from World Championship action, during which time Yuki Takahashi has suffered a personal tragedy with the loss of his brother Koki, who died in a road accident on the 23rd April. Yuki has decided to rac e this weekend because it is what is brother would have wanted and although it won't be easy for him he is determined to ride in his honour. Michele Pirro, meanwhile, remains determined to establish himself amongst the best riders in the class.

Yuki Takahashi “I am so sad at the moment it is hard for me to even think back to the last race at Jerez or wonder what I might be capable of at Estoril. No doubt I will take to the track with Koki in my mind. He was only 23 and I want to race in his honour. That is what he would have wanted so I will do everything in my power to cope with it.”

Michele Pirro “I am really upset by the tragedy that has befallen my team-mate. It is a sad moment and I want to do anything I can to help Yuki get through this difficult time. I wasn't totally satisfied with the result at Jerez because I feel I could have done better but I tri ed my hardest in the conditions. We gathered a lot of data over the weekend that the engineers will be able to use to improve the bike for Estoril. I have been training really hard during the break and I feel in good shape for Estoril, a circuit where I went quite well during the winter tests. I am confident I can be amongst the front of the Moto2 field.”

Fausto Gresini  “There are no words to reflect the tragedy of such a young death. It is a very sad time and the whole team will be supporting Yuki. It is a great pleasure to have him with us at Estoril and we hope he can honour his brother Koki in the best possible way. Pirro has to continue with the positive progress he has already made and I am sure he will be amongst the frontrunners in Moto2. We have a great team with two fast riders and I am sure we will have plenty to celebrate over the course of the season. We have a great relationship with Moriwaki and to gether we will enjoy success in Moto2.”

Race report from former 500cc GP champion Wayne Gardner

Race report from former 500cc GP champion Wayne Gardner

A legend rider former 500cc WGP champion Wayne Gardner who has ever ridden MORIWAKI machine before has given us a race report about his talented two sons.

MEDIA RELEASE

JUNIOR GARDERS DIVIDE AND CONQUER

Sunday 24 April 2011: The two young sons of World 500cc Motorcycle Champion Wayne

Gardner conquered very separate milestones this Easter, at opposite ends of the globe.

Thirteen-year-old Remy has left a lasting impression after his first race at Parcmotor in Spain for the

Campeonato Mediterráneo de Velocidad (CMV) on a detuned RMU 125cc machine.

Although a devastating machine failure caused him to DNF after only three laps, young Remy

was leading from 12th place on the grid and looked like going all the way in a wet race. A

broken gear shaft shattered his dreams of a solid finish in his first championship race of the season,

but has without a doubt given him a huge confidence boost as he looks forward to the next race

in May.

Remy showed his hand in the morning warm up session finishing fastest in the wet. They were

tricky conditions for the 12-lap race, with rivers of water in some areas of a drying track. The team

opted to go with wet tyres and it started to rain again just as the race began. Remy shot from

12th to 3rd into the first corner. By the second lap his confidence was up and he was leading the

race. At the beginning of lap three he started experiencing trouble and by half way through that

lap he realised he’d have to come in. “I’m extremely disappointed,” said Remy. “After the warm

up session I was so happy and knew I could do well, so I can’t believe this happened,” he added.

His proud father Wayne was philosophical. “We came here for the experience and had very low

expectations. Remy has really surprised us all. He qualified down the field after some telemetry

issues, but I‘ve been blown away by what he achieved here during a two-day test session we

had last week, and over the three days of this weekend’s race meeting. His style is completely

different to the Europeans - I might be biased but I think he was the smoothest rider out there. He

looks like he’s really connected to the bike!” Wayne also added, “the Monlau team director

Emilio Alzamora said he believes that with a few more miles under his belt and a bit more

experience Remy can be winning much sooner than any of us expected.”

The next race will be at Alcarras in Spain on 20-22 May. Remy won’t have any pre-testing time at

the circuit before this race, presenting another challenge for him to learn the track during one

day of practice on the Friday, but it’s a challenge Wayne believes he can handle. “Remy can’t

wait to get back here again to meet the next opportunity head on,” he said.

The first three riders taking home honours at Parcmotor today were 1st Marcos Ramirez Fernandez

(Spain); 2nd David Sanchis Matinez (Spain); and 3rd Robin Anne (Belgium).

On the other side of the world Remy’s eleven-year old brother Luca took 3rd place at the first

National Motorcycle Road Race Development Association (MRRDA) event for the year at Mac

Park in Mount Gambier, South Australia on his Moriwaki, in the Nippers 70cc class.

With the help of respected Australian engineer and former racer Tony Hatton, Luca’s first ever

road race event couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Luca got faster and more aggressive as

the weekend went on and was mixing it with kids older and on bigger capacity machines in the

same race (scored separately). “I wish I could go and race again tomorrow,” said an excited

Luca at the end of the weekend, “road racing is so much fun and I can’t wait to race again as

soon as possible!”

Although Luca qualified 3rd in his class he was on track with 80cc 2-stroke and 150cc 4-strokes

and physically placed 10th on the grid for the four races of five laps each. He struggled with starts

throughout the weekend and admitted it’s something he needs to work on, but his slow starts

gave him the opportunity to claw back places on track and really experience race conditions.

“It’s a bit boring when you’re just on your own on the track, but it is SO MUCH FUN when you’re

overtaking guys and trying to catch up to them,” Luca enthused after the first race.

At the end of the first day Luca was in equal 2nd with fellow NSW dirt tracker Lawson Walters, but

the more experienced Walters took the lead after race three, leaving Luca very happy to finish

on the podium at the end of the weekend.

The first person Luca wanted to talk to at the end of the day was Dad, and he couldn’t be more

excited for his youngest son. “Luca has been training on the road with Remy for the past few

years but this has been the first chance he’s had to race on the tar and I couldn’t be prouder of

what he’s achieved this weekend. He’s had to do it without me there, which is a huge call, and

only makes more me confident of his determination to make a go for himself in this sport. From

what I can tell he’s completely fallen in love with it and I have no doubt he’ll be snapping at

Remy’s heels in the not too distant future,” said Wayne.

Those finishing in front of Luca at in the MRRDA Nippers 70cc class this weekend were Troy

Guenther in 1st, and Lawson Walters in 2nd.

USGPRU Round 2: Tyler Linders and his Moriwaki MD250H the big winner at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway

New press release has come from USGPRU, it seems that there were very exciting races were held during the weekend!!

check them out!!

Fairfax, VA. – April 17, 2011 – The USGPRU headed to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway for the second round of the 2011 National Championship season.  The CVMA graciously hosted this weekend in what was their second-ever race event. The twisty and flowing Chuckwalla raceway was particularly well suited for the GP bikes as it clearly rewarded rider finesse over brute horsepower.

The USGPRU races started out on Saturday with the REV’IT! Moriwaki MD250H class, powered by HONDA. Ben Truslow led from the start of the race, with Tyler Linders, Andre Ochs, and Gavin Herrin in tow.  Ben and Tyler started to pull away from the other two boys.  Then, Tyler decided that it was time to take the lead, and passed Ben on the inside of turn 12.  Ben sat in Tyler’s draft for the rest of the race, stalking and setting Tyler up for the last-lap attack.  But Tyler proved too fast and held off Ben to the checkered flag.  Andre Ochs finished in a solid third place.

Sunday got started early with the Pilot Moto3 race.  Tyler Linders again put his Moriwaki out in front of the crowd and seemed to have a solid grip on the race.  But halfway through the race, Andre Ochs found some extra speed and reeled in Linders.  A last-lap pass into turn 1 put Andre into the lead, much to Linders’ surprise.  The timing was perfect as Linders was unable to mount a counter attack in time.  The battle for third place was a heated one, as well, as teammates Jon Schendel and Yannick Begher diced with each other the entire race.  The two Yamaha TZ125 riders would swap positions numerous times per lap, but ultimately Yannick was able to stay in front across the line to grab his first podium finish with the USGPRU.

The final USGPRU race of the day was the Moto Liberty / RS-Taichi 250GP class.  This race was gridded up behind the CVMA ‘lightweight twins’ class, and featured bikes ranging from the fire-breathing 250GP 2-stroke racers down to the hot-rod 4-stroke Moriwakis and 125GP machines. Vince Rolleri looked to have the solid advantage at the start on his Yamaha TZ250 and it looked like he was going to have a lonely race out front.  But young-gun, Tyler Linders had other ideas as he took advantage of the superior cornering of his Moriwaki to catch Vince in the twisty sections.  Just as the pair was about to catch some of the lightweight twins back-markers, Tyler dove past Vince to take the lead.  Then he used the lapper to put a little distance between himself and Vince. Tyler put his head down and pulled out an amazing 1:56.408 second lap, setting the new track record for the class.  Back in third place, Jon Schendel and his Yamaha TZ125 was closing in on Vince, but his charge was cut short when the lightweight twins leader crashed out, bringing out the red flag and the end of the race.  Tyler Linders was awarded his second win of the weekend, followed by Vince Rolleri, then Jon Schendel.

In the post-race awards, Daytona Anderson, Gavin Herrin, and Scott McNew each won a Motion Pro Motion Pro T-handle spinner and beanie cap.  Yannick Begher, Ben Truslow, and Mario Alvarez won a set of Motion Pro Mini Pro T-Handle tool set.  Tyler Linders and Mario Alvarez each won gift certificates for discounts on Pilot Leathers.  The big money winner of the weekend was Tyler Linders who scored an amazing $1500 from HONDA for his results on his Moriwaki MD250H.

The USGPRU thanks all of its sponsors that help to make it possible for us to keep coming out and doing what we all love to do.  Without your help, many more racers wouldn’t be able to afford to come out and live the GP dream.  Thank you RS Cycles, Motion Pro, Moto Liberty, Pilot, REV’IT!, HONDA, Impact Armor, Roadracingworld.com, and RS-Taichi.  We also have great contingency support from EBC, Silkolene, Dunlop, Bridgestone, and Michelin.  Thank you all!

USGPRU Race Report

we have received a immediate release from MORIWAKI CUP promoter USGPRU  in America.

it seems very exciting race was held at the opening round among enthusiastic rideres!

Check them out below.

Flinders, Wenner, and Zayat start strong at USGPRU season opener

Fairfax, VA. – April 4, 2011 – T
he 2011 USGPRU National Championship season kicked off on the east coast this year.  The CCS Florida crew hosted another outstanding event at the Jennings GP facility in Jennings, FL. The weather couldn’t have been better suited for great racing as the temperatures hovered around the 80-degree mark with sunny skies and a light breeze.  The racers were primed after a long winter’s wait, and the on-track action highlighted seasoned veterans as well as an exciting new batch of talented young racers.
The action kicked off early in the Pilot Moto3 class as ‘Mad’ Max Flinders put his hot-rod Moriwaki (upgraded to a CRF250R motor) out front as he led the field of 125GP 2-strokes and Moriwaki 4-stroke GP bikes into the first turn.  Series president, Stewart Aitken-Cade got a solid launch on his RS125 and was hot on Max’s heals followed closely by Scott Coccoli and Steve Wenner.  On lap 3, Wenner passed Aitken-Cade for second place, which in turn allowed Max to stretch out a small gap on the pack. That didn’t last long as Aitken-Cade dove past Wenner on the next lap and started to reel in Max.  Scott Coccoli started to fade back a bit, and the remaining three stuck together out front.  Just before the white flag flew, Aitken-Cade made a last turn pass on Max.  But Max had worked too hard and wasn’t about to give up as he out-braked Aitken-Cade at the end of the back straight.  The two racers swapped the lead 4-5 times on the last lap, with 14-year-old Mad Max narrowly holding off Aitken-Cade by .056 seconds at the line to clinch his first USGPRU victory.  Wenner crossed the line in third place.
The final race of the USGPRU classes this weekend was the REV’IT!-sponsored Moriwaki MD250H Powered by HONDA class. The small field of youngsters rocketed off the line with a very clear distinction between the seasoned veterans and the fresh batch of newbies.  Mad Max Flinders was again battling for the lead, but this time it was with Xavier Zayat.  The two swapped the lead every lap for the entire race, right up until the final lap when Flinders crashed out in turn 10.  Max was unhurt in the crash, and actually able to restart the bike. Before the crash, he had such a large lead over third place that when he re-entered the race, he still was able to take 2nd place.  Alex Wisdom was dicing with Gavin Herrin, when he crashed in the very fast turn 1.  Fortunately, besides his ego, he was uninjured and the damage to the bike was minimal. Herrin went on to win a very lonely third place.
In the post-race awards, Nick Kosan, Michael Henao, and JP Bartlett each won a Motion Pro Mini Pro T-handle tool set as well as a Motion Pro T-handle spinner and beanie cap.  Max Flinders, Xavier Zayat, and Lee Hollimon all won gift certificates for discounts on Pilot Leathers.  And the big prize of the weekend went to Mad Max Flinders as he won a brand new set of Tarmac Leathers from REV’IT! Leathers.
The USGPRU thanks all of its sponsors that help to make it possible for us to keep coming out and doing what we all love to do.  Without your help, many more racers wouldn’t be able to afford to come out and live the GP dream. Thank you RS Cycles, Motion Pro, Moto Liberty, Pilot, REV’IT!, HONDA, Impact Armor, and RS-Taichi.  We also have great contingency support from EBC, Silkolene, Dunlop, Bridgestone, and Michelin.  Thank you all!

Rd2 Jerez QMMF Race Report

Al Naimi and Cardús crash but continue to fight

IQMMF Racing Team riders Mashel Al-Naimi and Ricky Cardús showed true racing spirit at the Spanish Grand Prix when they both crashed but continued to fight and to finish the Moto2 race. Al Naimi was the first to go down on lap six. He pulled in for a quick pit stop to repair minor damage, then went out again to finish the race in 33rd spot. Team-mate Cardús  crashed out in a fight with Italian Mattia Pasini on lap 20, but bravely rode on to finish in 22nd position.

Mashel Al Naimi - 33rd
"I got a good start and felt very comfortable on the bike, even in the rain. I tried to push as much as I could and after five laps I had a slide and crashed. I went to the box to fix the handlebars and then continued the race. I found a good rhythm again and learned to understand how to ride in the rain. It was important to finish the race and get some more kilometers under my belt. I want to thank my team which did a great job all weekend and especially fixing the bike during the race!”

Ricky Cardus, 22nd:
“It was a fun race. I enjoyed riding a lot even though the race seemed to be going on forever. I made a little beginner’s mistake and crashed battling with Pasini for eleventh or twelfth position. But I managed to pick the bike up and to continue, gathering as much information as I possibly could. I wanted to finish the race, for the honor and to thank my team that worked very hard. Now so we are well prepared!”

Luis Solano – team coordinator
“Wet conditions are obviously a lot more difficult and Mashel crashed while trying to fight. He managed to re-join the race and grit his teeth to the very end which is great. He is learning the bike more and more and I think his results will improve soon. Ricky Cardús was battling to reach some points and rode really. After a few problems in the first two corners he started to work his way and to overtake some other riders before his incident happened on lap 20. He still finished 22nd and showed his great talent!”

Rd2 Jerez Gresini Race Report

GP de ESPANA - Race - 03/04/2011

PIRRO PLACES NINTH AND TAKAHASHI CRASHES OUT IN WET JEREZ MOTO2 RACE
Team Gresini’s Moto2 riders had an almost exact replica of their race at Qatar in round two at Jerez. A wet contest made conditions precarious, and many riders crashed out before the chequered flag came down. Michele Pirro finished ninth on his first time in the wet with the Moriwaki MD600, but Yuki Takahashi had worse luck and crashed out after losing the rear of his machine.

Michel e Pirro (9th) “This is the first time that I have ridden in these conditions with this bike, and I can say that I am satisfied with the result. In hindsight I could have made some more changes in the warmup and before the start, in order to improve my front end grip, but it is something else that I can take as a lesson learnt. I wanted to finish the race, and doing so means that I am happy”

Fer_3262rid_1_600x_2

Yuki Takahashi  (DNF) “I am very unhappy for the team, because they worked a lot this weekend. Unfortunately my rear grip wasn’t perfect, and that meant that I lowsided. I can’t wait to get to Estoril, in order to make amends for a bad day.”
_gis1331rid_1_600x

Fausto Gresini “Unfortunately these things happen in racing, and I am sad for the guys and for Yuki. I saw him enter the garage looking very deflated. We definitely have to work hard this month in order to improve the rear grip. Pirro had a good race and continues to grow as a rider, despite not having experienced these conditions before with the bike.”

Rd2 Jerez Qualify Report from Gresini

MOTO2 GP de ESPANA - Qualifying - 02/04/2011

FRONT ROW FOR TAKAHASHI, THIRD ROW FOR PIRRO

It was a positive day for Team Gresini Moto2 at Jerez, Yuki Takahashi setting the second fastest time to qualifying on the front row of the grid for tomorrow's race and Michele Pirro lapping seventh fastest to start just behind his team-mate on row three. After the setback of a crash yesterday morning Takahashi has seen his Moriwaki MD600 restored to its best by his crew and he is confident for the race tomorrow. Michele Pirro improved on his grid position from Qater and is keen to join the battle at the front.

Yuki Takahashi  (2nd 1’ 42” 988)

”After the disaster yesterday with the crash we have worked well and I was able to get a good result this afternoon. I am happy because we were able to confirm our strong race pace and I am sure that we can have a good race tomorrow. Obviously everything will depend on the weather but I usually go well in the wet so either way I should be in good shape to fight for the win.”

Fer_3367rid_1_600x

Michele Pirro (7th 1’ 43” 615)

“We have improved our starting position from Qatar from ninth to seventh so that is positive for a start. However, I am a little disappointed to have missed out on the second row but just 0.002 seconds. Hopefully I can get a good start and run with the front group. We have some changes to make with the bike but overall my fe eling is good. I have confidence in the team and I am sure that like in Qatar we will have a competitive bike for the race.

Fer_3262rid_1_600x

”Fausto Gresini “

Considering that we virtually lost an entire session yesterday morning because of the crash today's result is more than positive for Takahashi. It is not easy to stay at the top in this category because the level is constantly improving so I have to be proud that we are still up there. I think Yuki can do well tomorrow, likewise Pirro, who only missed out on the second row by 0.002 seconds. It has been a positive day for the team and hopes are high for tomorrow.”

News from QMMF Racing team

QMMF Racing Team riders Mashel Al Naimi and Ricky Cardús continued their rapid learning program in the Moto2 category with valuable discoveries on the first day of practice for the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez. Despite having to settle for 39th place, Al Naimi boosted his own confidence when he figured out crucial changes to the seating position on his Moriwaki bike, an improvement that should definitely help him in Saturday’s qualifying session. Team-mate Ricky Cardús finished the day in 24th position after a minor crash, but had been running within the top 15 before the incident and is also convinced of his possibilities at his home Grand Prix. "We changed some things in the way we work with Mashel, and I am sure these changes are going to pay off. He will re-start with a new set-up and a few more fresh ideas tomorrow, with the aim of scoring a better result than in Qatar”, said team coordinator Luis Soldano. “Ricky on the other hand is on fire because he wants to do well at his home race. I am convinced that he can run within the top 15 and score his first points of the year!”
Mashel Al Naimi (39th in 1.48, 236)
"I am happy because I think I solved my biggest problem - my position on the bike. So far, I had a slow start wherever we went because I didn't feel well on the bike and I had to adapt my style too much. We now changed the position of the handlebars and the footrests so I feel more comfortable going into the turns. I hope that these changes will pay off in the time sheets and that I can improve my position tomorrow!”
Ricky Cardús (24th in 1.45, 086)
"In first practice, I found a good rhythm and we tried many things on the bike. We continued on a good way in the afternoon until I ran a little wide in one of the corners and crashed. I lost some confidence, and when I went out again, only a few minutes after the incident, I wasn’t fully concentrated and dropped back a few positions in the time sheets. For tomorrow, we will fine-tune our set-up and we will continue to fight. I really want to do well here at my home race!"

Yuki Tkahashi marked top time at FP2

Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing Moto2) settled himself on top of the time sheet at FP2.

Despite crush out in first few laps at FP1 in the morning, he soon recoveried and marked progressive time at FP2 and fourth fastest after all.

Another Gresini racing Moto2 rider Michele Pirro seems in good shape, he also break the previous recoed lap of last year nad placed 13th after all.

Check the Gresini racing official report below.

MOTO2 GP de ESPANA - Free Practice - 01/04/2011

TAKAHASHI ON THE PACE DESPITE CRASH THIS MORNING

Winds of 40km/h battered the Jerez circuit this afternoon but Yuki Takahashi sliced through them to set the third fastest time in the Moto2 class despite suffering a crash in this morning's opening free practice session. The Team Gresini rider was the victim of an unusual crash, losing grip when he ran over the rip-off visor left by another rider, which had blown into the middle of turn 2. It meant that the first session ended early for Yuki but he made up for it in the second one, raising hopes for Sunday's race. Michele Pirro also had a positive day working on the set-up of his Moriwaki MD600, the Italian lapping sixth fastest this morning before ending the afternoon in 13th.

Yuki Takahashi  ( 3rd 1’ 44” 044) ”It was a shame about the crash this morning, which was about four laps in. We lost time but the guys did a great job to make sure everything was ready for me this afternoon. The feeling with the bike is good, as it was in the winter tests here, and I set my best time on a used tyre. It is a positive sign for tomorrow and for the race on Sunday. I am confident we can be competitive.”

Michele Pirro (13th 1’ 44” 329) “Overall I am satisfied even though this morning was better than the afternoon. We have tried a few different things and stayed on the sam e tyre. We are not too far off the front and if we can resolve a couple of our problems and find more grip on the rear I think I can be up there in the race. Tomorrow we will keep working and try to secure a good spot on the starting grid.”

Fausto Gresini

“The crash this morning was in danger of ruining the day but the team was brilliant once again in giving Takahashi a bike that allowed him to be on the pace in the afternoon. Yuki wasn't at fault for the crash and I feel sorry for him because he is fast and if it wasn't for the time we lost this morning he could have been even faster. Pirro also did a good job working on his Moriwaki MD600. He is making progress and he will get his rewards.”

MORIWAKI official race report QATAR

Round1 Qatar GP (March 17 to 20)

The first round of the 2011 season, Qatar Grand Prix was held at Losail International Circuit, in the suburb of Doha between March 17 and 20.  Qatar has been hosting the GP since 2004 and this is the 4th season with evening race.  MORIWAKI asked all MD600 teams to put a sticker saying “Ganbare Nippon!” (words to cheer up Japan) on their MORIWAKI MD600s hoped to send the message to those suffering from enormous difficulty caused by the earthquake and tsunami on March 11th.

MD600 became the first Moto2 World Champion in its inaugural season piloted by Toni Elias (Gresini Racing Moto2) with 7 victories.  Elias left to MotoGP for this year and Yuki Takahashi and Michele Pirro joined the team to demonstrate the same result as last year.  Another MD600 rider is Raffaele de Losa who joined Desguaces La Torre G22 team.  Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) also made their debut with 3 MD600s, Ricard Cardus, Mashel Al Naimi and Nasser Hasan Al Malki.  The total of 6 MD600s started the race.

Yuki Takahashi perhaps the strongest contender among MORIWAKI riders and he topped the list at Thursday’s Free Practice session.  He gradually dropped down on his position as the weekend progressed, the second at day 2 and fourth start on the grid.  But his position on the grid still was good to aim for the first victory of the season.  He fought through most of the race in the battle for second leading the pack some time.  At the latter part of the race, the wears on tyres slowed him down and finished the race in fifth.

Behind the runner up pack, a former WSS rider, Pirro who made 1 start in Moto2 last year was showing his remarkable talent, joining the battle for 6 from 8th in the grid and finished the race where he started.  He managed to improve his lap since Thursday though his position went down from 8th to 11th on day2.  Unfortunately the delay in the opening lap cost him a lot but obviously there will be much expectation in following rounds.

Raffaele de Rosa is no longer Yuki’s team mate but they happened to have same machine for the season.  It wasn’t a satisfactory result after FP finished, 28th in the sheet.  He crashed during the Qualifying Practice, got 36th position start.  He only gained 30th at the race, but we know what his is capable with.  We hope to see better result from him next time.

New formed QMMF team brought 3 MD600s.  Cardus qualified in 22nd and finished the race in 17th, just missing rider’s point.  Al Malki started from 39th in the grid and finished in 32nd.  The last rider of the team, Al Naimi qualified one position ahead of this team mate, Malki but he crashed out and retired at the opening lap.

The first victory of the season went to Stefan Bradl (Kalex), followed by Andrea Iannone (Suter) and Thomas Luthi (Suter).

Yuki Takahashi (5th)

I had a good rhythm in the first half of the race and could lead the pack.  After I started losing grip, I was busy not to have high side crashes and struggled to control.  We tried different gear ratio and other different settings which might cost us time.  The setting we had was the one we got really good result from the Spain test, but maybe it didn’t work with Qatar.  So, something to learn about and it was a fruitful race for our team.  I really wanted to be on podium for my team and for MORIWAKI.  I’ll make sure of that at Jerez.  And I want to pray for the ones who lost their lives in Japan because of the earthquake and wish them to return their ordinary lives as early as possible.

Michele Pirro (8th)

I think we did pretty good to set up the machine from the day 1.  I had no concern on the chassis.  But I just couldn’t get speed and that problem stayed all weekend.  At the race, I got into a group just after the race started and fought for 6th position.  I wasn’t able to lead the pack and had to settle on 8th.  I regretted that I could not give my 100 per cent.  It was a frustrating race but I will pay back at next round when we go to Jerez.

Mishel Al Naimi - DNF
I had a good start and I felt fine on the bike, but in the first lap I touched another rider. I tried to overtake Santiago Hernandez in turn six, but I had to break hard because I was about to touch him and so I crashed. I feel sorry for my team and for myself as this wasn't a good start to the season. I wanted to find my rhythm and do a good race, but this weekend I just had bad luck. I will now focus on the next race in Jerez.
Ricky Cardús – 17th
I had a great start, with a good rhythm and all intentions to do well. But then it was difficult for me to maintain this rhythm. This is a fast track with a long main straight, and you need a lot of slipstream to keep up. Once I lost the draft of the group in front of me, I dropped back, and that disappointed me. We still have to work on our topspeed and on the aerodynamics of the bike in order to score better positions. Of course, 17th is not bad, but we are riders, and as a rider you want to win!
Nasser Hasan Al Malki - 32nd
It was a nice fight! I started from last position and I saw a couple of riders crashing in front of me, so most of all I am happy that I was able to finish the race. On the first lap I tried to push a bit more but there was a lot of traffic. After five laps I lost some grip on the rear and as soon as I recognized that I said to myself it would be the best to finish the race safely!
