The weekend started with the free practice in dry but it got wet since the qualifying practice where Anthony West came in 28th and Elena Rosell 31st.

--

The race started on Sunday in wet condition with 13 degree air and 15 degree ground. It was a survival race already from the opening lap saw some were crashing out. But West went through the difficult race in good form. He started from the 28th grid, quickly went up to 19th in the first lap, moved further to 10th by lap12. He kept the momentum and was running in 5th on lap22 battling for 4th but finished the race in 7th with 9 championship points.

2012 MotoGP World Championship Series 2nd round, Gran Premio bwin de Espana

The second round of 2012 season, the MotoGP went to Jerez circuit.

There wasn’t much luck in weather and it all started in wet condition. Anthony West who had won a GP in wet and is good at racing in such condition, timed 4th fastest at first Free Practice on day1, gave hope for the weekend.

Both Free Practice sessions were wet on Friday but Saturday’s Qualifying Practice was dry, making difficult for everyone.

The top of the 4 MD600 riders after the qualifying practice was Gino Rea, starts the race from the 23rd grid, followed by Anthony West on 29th, Ratthapark Wilairot 30th and Elena Rosell 31st.

--

On Sunday morning, the track was really wet but the weather got better and it was dry by the time of Moto2 race. It started in 14 degree C air, 15 degree C ground, with some wet patches on the surface of the track.

The race started smoothly and Rea completed the opening lap in 14th. West jumped to 23rd, Wilairot in 28th and Rosell in 31st.

Some riders were falling or running out of the course as the race progressed and Rosell crashed out after she completed 4 laps, and unfortunately she had to retire.

West was slowly moving up, hoping for a point. But it started raining after a half way through the race and it forced the race to stop at lap 18, the red-flag was given.

So the position order of previous lap became the result of the race. Rea was in 15th to get his first riders point for this season. West was right behind him, finished in 16th and Wilairot was in 26th.
